چکیده

Coastal salt-affected soils account for a large area all around the world. Soil salinity and pH are two important parameters affecting soil quality. Investigating correlation of electrical conductivity (EC) at different depths in saline was useful quickly assessing saline–alkaline characteristics. During natural desalination process field reclaimed lands, phenomena increase nitrogen accumulation may occur. A sampling experiment conducted slightly affected by newly heavily soil. series soil–water ratio extracts consisting 1:2.5, 1:5, 1:10, 1:20, 1:40 designed to measure EC simulating characteristics during process. Meanwhile, reasonable utilization naturally ameliorated which consists high content nitrogen, plastic mulching (PM) accompanied with (N) fertilizer addition maize cultivation plots designed. Results showed that significant and/or existed ratios extracts, had higher (1.06 g kg−1). The negatively correlated depth 0~100 cm coastal soil, indicated value alkalization its desalination. Furthermore, PM treatments no difference N bulk density water obtained similar grain yield, between 6.2 6.5 t ha−1. decreased harvest index largest treated plots. Our study beneficial rapidly monitoring sustainable resources. In addition, we should focus far more on improvement rational chemical obtaining benefits

Immediate and long-term nitrogen oxide emissions from tropical forest soils exposed to elevated nitrogen input

Tropical nitrogen (N) deposition is projected to increase substantially within the coming decades. Increases in soil emissions of the climate-relevant trace gases NO and N2O are expected, but few studies address this possibility. We used N addition experiments to achieve N-enriched conditions in contrasting montane and lowland forests and assessed changes in the timing and magnitude of soil N-o...

Microbial Biomass in Reclaimed Soils following Coal Mining in Virginia1

It is well known that soil microbial communities reestablish following disturbance, but limited research has been done on how long this takes in eastern reclaimed coal mine soils. The objective of this study was to track the development of total microbial biomass in reclaimed mine soils following coal mining in southwestern Virginia. A chronosequence of sites was established based on locally do...

Pond fractals in a tidal flat.

Studies over the past decade have reported power-law distributions for the areas of terrestrial lakes and Arctic melt ponds, as well as fractal relationships between their areas and coastlines. Here we report similar fractal structure of ponds in a tidal flat, thereby extending the spatial and temporal scales on which such phenomena have been observed in geophysical systems. Images taken during...

Gross nitrogen process rates in temperate forest soils exhibiting symptoms of nitrogen saturation

In order to examine how fundamental soil N cycling processes are affected by elevated N inputs to temperate forest ecosystems, we made concurrent laboratory measurements of gross rates of nitrogen (N) mineralization, nitrification, nitrate (NO3 ) consumption, ammonium (NH4 þ) immobilization, nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitric oxide (NO) production, and NO consumption in soils from the Harvard Fores...

Spatial Variation of Soil Organic Carbon and Total Nitrogen in the Coastal Area of Mid-Eastern China

Soils play an important role in sequestrating atmospheric CO₂. Coastal tidal flats have been intensively reclaimed for food security and living spaces worldwide. We aimed to identify the changes of soil organic carbon (SOC) and total nitrogen (TN) following coastal reclamation and their spatial variation in the coastal area of mid-Eastern China to provide information for coastal cropland manage...
